Dr. Ihekweazu’ message to the graduates was simple: “Give Thanks…”
Dr. Ihekweazu was blessed with the opportunity to give the commencement address for the graduates of the Westbury Christian High School class of 2019. The graduation ceremony took place at Houston Baptist University on May 24, 2019. This was the first time that a graduate of Westbury Christian school was selected to give the address. In total, there were 53 graduates. This senior class was awarded nearly $7.3 million dollars in scholarship awards. More than a 1/3rd of the students were members of an honor society (ITS, NHS, NAHS, Tri-M) and a number of the students had won state championships in athletics.
In his address, Dr. Ihekweazu asked the students to identify individuals in their lives that have made sacrifices for them. He asked the students to give thanks to these individuals, their communities and always strive to find ways to serve others.
